Sound familiar? Okay, I’m sure you’ve got a lot more going on, but my point is that it’s super common (and normal) to feel like you’re living the same familiar, boring day over and over again.

I get it; sometimes, life just feels dull and repetitive. We’ve all been stuck on autopilot once upon a time.

I’m here to tell you that I might have a solution for you today.. Drumroll…

It’s time to start romanticizing your life, girl!

Okay, hold on, before you give up on me entirely, let’s talk about what romanticizing your life even means. The concept is pretty simple, and this is how I like to summarize it:

Romanticizing your life is all about finding magic in places you would usually overlook,

OR (my favourite)

creating magic wherever you want.

It’s about looking at life from a different perspective, through a lens of new-found interest, genuine curiosity, and excitement.

It’s about discovering what you love and enjoy, exploring what you want from life, and nurturing your own needs in a way that brings you joy and ignites your soul.

It’s about appreciating the small moments and soaking up life’s simple pleasures, noticing the beauty all around you, and finding the beauty in everything you do.

It’s about approaching everyday life with a deep sense of love and peace and taking in each moment of sheer happiness and contentment that comes your way.

It’s about falling in love with life, living it to the fullest, and celebrating how spectacular this adventure can be.

Combine the 17 ideas below with a generous sprinkle of gratitude and mindfulness, and you’ve got a no-fail “romanticize-your-life” recipe at your fingertips!

Let’s get to it..

1. Create rituals

Morning, evening, skincare, self-care, meditations, prayer, Sunday afternoon spring cleaning – whatever ignites your soul and brings meaning to your life. When you ritualize everyday actions, it converts your actions into a sacred, powerful practice that is unique and special to your life.

What could you ritualise that would bring more enjoyment into your life?

2. Slow down

When you wake up in the morning, take a minute to listen to the birds outside your window, savor a cup of coffee and really melt into the experience, or stop to admire the view on your next walk. You might be pleasantly surprised at what you find (and feel).

Always being in a rush to get things done causes you to overlook and forget the beauty that’s all around you.

3. Do nice things for yourself

What do you need that you could give yourself right now? Plan a spa day, buy your favorite flowers, take yourself on a date; whatever you need, give it to yourself wholeheartedly with no guilt.

Sometimes we forget how we treat ourselves is just as important as how we treat others. Practice the habit of doing something nice for yourself every day. It doesn’t have to be extravagant to count!

4. Do things you wouldn’t normally do

Or wouldn’t necessarily think to do… Go sit in the park, watch the clouds, take a book to the beach, or explore a neighboring city.

Trying to keep up with day-to-day life can sometimes make you forget about the little opportunities for adventure that hide around each corner. Go and do all the things, because why not?

5. Spend time in nature

The benefits of exposing yourself to nature are endless, but we don’t spend nearly enough time outdoors. Sit in the grass, play in the ocean, and roll around in some leaves. You get the idea..

I firmly believe that nature has the unique ability to ground you and help you heal, so be sure to make outside time a priority.

6. Spend time being creative

Creativity is an important part of being human, but it’s often left behind in childhood. Come up with some ideas of how you could practice creativity in your life. You might think that you’re not a creative person, but I believe everyone has the potential to be creative in their own unique way.

Allow yourself to explore that part of you. Perhaps you’d like to paint, do make-up, bake cakes, or design clothes. The end result doesn’t have to be anything magnificent; the point is to focus on fully immersing yourself in creating something. It doesn’t matter what it is.

7. Do the things you’ve always wanted to do

You know those things that have been sitting on your bucket list for the last couple of years? Yes, those wonderful things. Go and do them, or at least do one. Take pictures, make memories, and have FUN.

The reality is that life is short, so live each day to the fullest that you possibly can.

8. Make self-care a non-negotiable

Self-care means different things to everyone, so take a minute to think about what self-care looks like for you. Then, come up with ideas to honor these intentions in your daily life.

For example, if taking care of your health is important to you, then making time to move your body and cooking healthy meals for yourself might speak to you. If face masks and bubble baths are your thing, then do that!

9. Make self-discovery a top priority

Work on yourself, your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Commit to your growth and strive to better yourself every day.

Address your weaknesses, journal your thoughts, and get to know yourself on the deepest level. Forgive yourself, heal your wounds, and let go of anything holding you back.

This is your life, and you’re the main character.

10. Shift your perspective, like, right now!

I talk A LOT about the importance of perspective, but seriously, if you only do one thing, please do that.

This tip isn’t just about romanticizing your life. It’s about completely changing it. You have an amazing life, and there is always something to be grateful for, as cheesy as it may sound.

Focus on the positives and trust that everything is working in your favor. Simple mindset shifts like this can do wonders for your heart and mind.

11. Help someone else

When you radiate love and kindness, love and kindness will always come back to you. Volunteer for a cause you believe in, help your friend move or make an extra cup of coffee for your coworker.

Every day is filled to the brim with opportunities to help others. Giving back is a selfless act that will enrich your life and provide a powerful sense of purpose.

12. Take your rest time seriously

Again, we all value different forms of rest so take a minute to reflect on what’s most meaningful to you. Maybe you need a social media detox once a week or having an hour of quiet alone time before bed speaks to you.

Whatever it is, honour it!

13. Make time to practice your hobbies

As we get older, the activities that gave us life as kids slowly start to take a back seat. Fun moves down the priority list as our focus shifts to more “important” things like work and other adult stuff.

Why not rekindle that old connection with yourself by doing something you used to love? It can be a scary thing, I get it, but that brings me to my next point…

14. Get out of your comfort zone

Just a little, nothing too crazy. The idea is to push yourself by doing something that makes you feel a little uncomfortable or something you wouldn’t normally do.

Smile at a stranger, go to the movies by yourself or speak up in a meeting at work. The point is to experience your life through new eyes by embracing challenges.

You know what they say, life begins where your comfort zone ends!

15. Plan a ‘you’ day

Think of the absolute best day you could ever have. Now, plan it out and do it. Dedicate this day to you and you alone.

Indulge in everything you feel that your soul is craving. This could mean sleeping in, walking to your favorite coffee shop, going for a massage, watching your favorite movie, going for a drive, treating yourself to a yummy meal, or spending time with the people you love.

Let yourself have whatever it is (within reason, of course).

16. Don’t stress about what others think of you

Take that selfie, wear that killer outfit sitting in the closet, or be that girl who sings while she shops for groceries. There’s no reason to waste any time being afraid of what others might be thinking or letting the opinion of others stop you from living your life exactly the way you want to live it.

17. Do what makes you happy

Life is too short to do anything else. Make a list of everything that brings you joy, and then figure out how to incorporate more of these things into your life.

You only have this one life, do everything you can to make sure it’s magical.

And there you have it, 17 beautifully simple ways to romanticize your life. Which one was your favorite? Let me know in the comments. As always, I’d love to hear from you!
